Le Cowboy Glossary (Hacksaw Gaming)

37 terms covering Le Cowboy's Hacksaw cluster engine, Revolver Reveals, multiplicative Clover Multipliers, three Free Spins modes, and the path to 25,000x.

Autoplay

Spin the reels automatically for a set number of rounds. Pick how many spins and optional stop conditions (stop on Revolver shot, stop on Clover landing, stop on bonus trigger). Useful for grinding the 1-in-160 scatter trigger toward the three Hacksaw western bonus modes.

Base Game

Regular gameplay before bonus modes activate. Le Cowboy's base game runs as Cluster Pays on the 6×5 grid. Medium-High volatility (4/5) means most session profit comes from Revolver Reveal events combined with Clover-multiplied cluster wins. Hit frequency ~26% — relatively low for cluster slots, befitting the higher variance.

Bonus Buy (Feature Buy)

Skip the base game and jump straight into a bonus mode. Le Cowboy offers High Noon Saloon Buy (80x bet, RTP 96.24%, avg return ~65x) and Trail of Trickery Buy (200x bet, RTP 96.26%, avg return ~130x). Pistols at Dawn (5 scatters) is natural-trigger only — not buyable. UK and Sweden block Bonus Buy by regulation.

Cascading Reels (Tumble)

Le Cowboy's win-resolution mechanic. After a winning cluster resolves, winning symbols disappear and new ones drop into place. Cascades chain when new clusters form. Combined with Revolver Reveals (wilds in winning clusters transform into Revolver scatters), cascade chains accumulate Coins, Diamonds, and Clover Multipliers across the spin.

Clover Multiplier

Le Cowboy's math engine. Revolver shots can reveal Clovers (2x-15x) that attach to grid positions and multiply any winning cluster touching them. Critical math: multiple Clovers on the same cluster MULTIPLY together (multiplicative, not additive). Two Clovers at 5x and 8x adjacent to the same cluster = 40x. Different from compound-additive slots.

Cluster Pays

Le Cowboy's win mechanic. 5+ matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically anywhere on the 6×5 grid form a winning cluster. The 6×5 layout produces 30 cells. Cluster Pays replaces traditional payline architecture — matching symbols form wins by physical adjacency rather than reel-position alignment.

Coin Reveal (Revolver Shot)

Le Cowboy's most common Revolver outcome. When a Revolver shoots, it can reveal Coins valued 1x-200x stake on random grid positions. Coins pay direct values immediately. Coin shots provide the steady value drip during base-game Revolver Reveal events.

Dead Spin

A spin that returns absolutely nothing. Le Cowboy's medium-high volatility (4/5) produces dead spins around 74% of the time at base game (hit frequency ~26%). Higher dead-spin rate than sister Le Bandit (62%) because the math model rewards Revolver Reveals and Clover compounding rather than frequent base-game cluster hits.

Diamond Reveal

Le Cowboy's premium Revolver outcome. When a Revolver shoots, it can reveal Diamonds valued 5x-500x stake. Higher than Coin values (1x-200x). Diamond reveals are rarer than Coin reveals — they account for the high-tier value drops during Revolver events. Diamonds pay direct values immediately upon reveal.

Feature Trigger Rate

How often bonus rounds activate. Le Cowboy's scatter trigger sits at ~1 in 160 base spins. Distribution: 3 scatters → High Noon Saloon (most common). 4 scatters → Trail of Trickery (less frequent). 5 scatters → Pistols at Dawn (extremely rare, ~1 in 50,000 spins natural rate).

Free Spins

Bonus rounds where you don't pay the stake. Le Cowboy has three Hacksaw-designed Free Spins variants: High Noon Saloon (3 scatters, standard Revolver mechanics), Trail of Trickery (4 scatters, sticky Clover Multipliers), Pistols at Dawn (5 scatters, guaranteed Revolver every cascade). Each tier escalates by changing how Revolvers and Clovers behave structurally.

Hacksaw Gaming Provider

Hacksaw Gaming is a Malta-licensed Swedish-based provider. Le Cowboy (2023) sits in their Le-series western catalog alongside Le Bandit (caper noir), Le King, Le Pharaoh. The studio designs bonus structures around one core trigger (here, the Revolver Reveal) rather than stacking unrelated features. Le Cowboy carries the highest max win cap in the Le series (25,000x).

High Noon Saloon

Le Cowboy's entry-tier Free Spins mode. Triggered by 3 scatters. Standard Revolver mechanics with non-sticky Clovers. RTP 96.24% on the buy variant. Average return ~65x. Bonus Buy: 80x bet. The simplest of the three bonus tiers — Hacksaw's introductory entry to the Revolver-Reveal feedback loop.

Hit Frequency

How often Le Cowboy lands any winning combination. The hit rate sits at ~26% — about 1 in 4 spins pays something. Lower than mainstream cluster slots because the math model rewards Revolver Reveal compounding over frequent base-game hits. The 4/5 volatility demands extended bankroll runway.

Le-Series Branding

Hacksaw's "Le" themed catalog branding. Le Cowboy sits alongside Le Bandit, Le Bunny, Le Fisherman, Le King, Le Pharaoh, Le Santa. Common thread: French-styled "Le" prefix, character-driven theming. Le Cowboy is the western raccoon-with-revolvers entry. Carries the highest max win cap (25,000x) in the entire Le-series catalog.

Max Win

The absolute maximum a slot can pay on a single round. Le Cowboy caps at 25,000x — highest in the Le-series. The path runs almost exclusively through Pistols at Dawn with the guaranteed-Revolver feedback loop running at maximum efficiency. Estimated probability ~1 in 6,000,000 spins. Requires 4+ Clovers at 10x+ each compounding on a single cluster.

Max Win Cap

Once Le Cowboy hits 25,000x, the round ends immediately. The 25,000x cap exceeds all other Le-series slots (Le Bandit 10,000x, Le Bunny 20,000x, Le Pharaoh 15,000x). Hacksaw positioned Le Cowboy with extra cap headroom to reflect Pistols at Dawn's compounding feedback-loop potential.

Megaways

A Big Time Gaming licensed mechanic with up to 117,649 ways to win. Le Cowboy doesn't use Megaways — uses Cluster Pays on a 6×5 grid. Hacksaw has Megaways-licensed titles in their catalog but the Le-series stays with cluster-pays format that pairs cleanly with Revolver Reveal and Clover Multiplier mechanics.

Multiplier

A value that multiplies your win. Le Cowboy's Clover Multipliers carry random 2x-15x values. Multiple Clovers on the same cluster multiply together — two Clovers at 5x and 8x = 40x line multiplier. During Trail of Trickery, Clovers stick for the entire bonus, accumulating session-long multiplier zones across the grid.

Paylines

Predefined lines across the reels where matching symbols form a win. Le Cowboy doesn't use paylines — uses Cluster Pays on the 6×5 grid. Cluster pays don't require specific positional alignment; matching symbols form wins by touching horizontally or vertically anywhere on the 30-cell grid.

Paytable

Le Cowboy's reference chart. Premium symbols: Raccoon Sheriff (top tier — the western character), Golden Revolver, Wanted Poster. Mid-tier: Boots, Hat. Low-tier: Cactus, Horseshoe, Bullet (western imagery). Special symbols: Wild/Revolver (transforms when in winning clusters) and Scatter (triggers bonus). Access through the game's info menu.

Pistols at Dawn

Le Cowboy's premium Free Spins mode. Triggered by 5 scatters during base play (extremely rare ~1 in 50,000 spins). Guarantees a Revolver on every cascade — every winning cluster generates at least one Revolver shot. Creates a feedback loop: wins → Revolvers → Clovers → bigger wins → more Revolvers. Natural-trigger only; not buyable.

Revolver Reveals

Le Cowboy's headline mechanic. When a Wild symbol participates in a winning cluster, it transforms into a Revolver Scatter. The revolver spins its cylinder and shoots 2-4 specialty symbols onto random grid positions: Coins (1x-200x value), Diamonds (5x-500x), or Clovers (2x-15x multiplier). Each Revolver Reveal can trigger downstream cascades.

Revolver Shot Direction

Le Cowboy's critical RNG element. When Revolvers shoot, the 2-4 specialty symbols land on random grid positions. Direction is RNG — can miss cluster-adjacent positions where Clovers would have multiplied subsequent wins. Strategy implication: Revolver Reveals are powerful but their value is somewhat luck-dependent on shot positioning.

RTP (Return to Player)

The theoretical percentage of wagered money a slot returns over millions of spins. Le Cowboy runs at 96.28% (base) — solid Hacksaw RTP though not their highest (Joker Bombs at 96.48%). Bonus Buy variants: High Noon Saloon Buy 96.24%, Trail of Trickery Buy 96.26%. Some operators may run lower variants — verify in the game info screen before spinning.

Scatter

A special symbol that triggers features regardless of position. Le Cowboy's scatter activates Free Spins. 3 scatters → High Noon Saloon. 4 scatters → Trail of Trickery. 5 scatters → Pistols at Dawn (extremely rare natural trigger). Scatters can land anywhere on the 6×5 grid.

Session Variance

The gap between actual results and theoretical RTP. Le Cowboy has 96.28% RTP, but a 200-spin session can return 30% to 350% of your wager. Medium-High volatility (4/5) means session swings are pronounced — without a high-tier bonus trigger and Clover compounding, sessions tend to run 50-75% of theoretical RTP.

Sticky Wild

A Wild symbol that stays in place across multiple spins. Le Cowboy's base-game Wilds are NOT sticky — they transform into Revolvers when participating in winning clusters and disappear after the cascade resolves. During Trail of Trickery, Clover Multipliers (separate from Wilds) become sticky for the entire bonus duration — accumulating session-long multiplier zones.

Trail of Trickery

Le Cowboy's mid-tier Free Spins mode. Triggered by 4 scatters. Sticky Clover Multipliers accumulate session-long multiplier zones across the grid. RTP 96.26% on the buy variant. Average return ~130x. Bonus Buy: 200x bet. The compounding tier — multiplier zones grow as more Revolvers shoot Clovers across the round.

Volatility (Variance)

How a slot's payouts are distributed. Le Cowboy is rated Medium-High (4/5) — between Le Bandit (3/5) and high-vol DuelReels titles (5/5). The 26% hit frequency produces longer dry spells than mainstream cluster slots. Bonus rounds trigger ~1 in 160 spins but produce outsized wins through Clover compounding.

Ways to Win

An alternative to fixed paylines. Le Cowboy doesn't use ways-to-win — uses Cluster Pays. Cluster mechanics differ from ways-to-win because they require physical adjacency rather than reel-position matching. Hacksaw's design choice — cluster pays produces a different math distribution than ways-to-win formats.

Western Theme Symbol Hierarchy

Le Cowboy's premium symbol order. Raccoon Sheriff (top tier — the western gunslinger character) pays the highest cluster values. Golden Revolver second. Wanted Poster third. Mid-tier western imagery (Boots, Hat). Low-tier (Cactus, Horseshoe, Bullet) form the bottom on the 6×5 grid. The premium-tier symbols pay roughly 5-10x more per cluster than mid-tier symbols.

Wild Symbol

Le Cowboy's Wild substitutes for any regular symbol to complete winning clusters. Critical: when a Wild participates in a winning cluster, it transforms into a Revolver Scatter on resolution. The transformation triggers the Revolver Reveal mechanic — Wilds are functionally Revolver triggers in addition to their standard substitution role.

Win Distribution

How total payouts are spread across different win sizes. Medium-High-volatility slots like Le Cowboy are top-heavy — Pistols at Dawn contributes ~25% of total RTP despite triggering at ~1 in 50,000 spins. Trail of Trickery ~30%. High Noon Saloon ~20%. Base-game Revolver Reveal alignments ~20%. Standard cluster wins ~5%. The distribution skews dramatically toward bonus rounds.

Pistols at Dawn Feedback Loop

Le Cowboy's critical math distinction. During Pistols at Dawn, every cascade guarantees a Revolver. That means every winning cluster generates at least one Revolver shot, which can create more Clovers, which boost the next cascade's wins. It's a feedback loop: wins → Revolvers → Clovers → bigger wins → more Revolvers. The 25,000x cap requires this loop running at maximum efficiency.

Bonus Buy Restrictions

Some countries ban purchasing bonus rounds. UK prohibits since October 2021. Sweden caps bet sizes during buys. Le Cowboy's Bonus Buy options follow these restrictions. Hacksaw's distribution skews toward markets where buy availability varies. The Pistols at Dawn natural-trigger-only design means the premium tier is unbuyable — the Trail of Trickery 200x buy is the highest-ceiling buy option.

6×5 Grid with Cluster Pays

Le Cowboy's grid format. 6 reels × 5 rows = 30 cells. Pays through Cluster Pays — 5+ matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically. The 6×5 layout matches sister Le-series cluster slots (Le Bandit, Le Bunny). The size pairs cleanly with Revolver Reveals — enough positions for meaningful Coin/Diamond/Clover scatter without overwhelming the grid.
